Sights and cultural treasures in the region

Due to its long history, the whole of Bavaria is rich in historical sights, but also modern cultural treasures that are close by and are also excellent for a day trip in winter. Here we would like to present a small selection for different interests.

The monasteries of Bernried on Lake Starnberg, Benediktbeuern with its Fraunhofer Museum and Andechs with its famous brewery are all steeped in history. This also applies to Bad Tölz with its magnificent houses in the old town, whose façades are richly decorated with the so-called Lüftlmalerei. Families with children can also visit the marionette theatre, which is famous for its performances of classic fairy tales, and the planetarium. And what could be better than strolling through the famous Christmas market in the cold temperatures and enjoying the picturesque old town with a mulled wine?

A little further away from our country house café, restaurant & hotel - about 1.5 hours by car - is the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle. You should definitely not miss a visit to the fairytale building of the Bavarian King Ludwig II when you are in Bavaria for a Christmas holiday. Amidst the snow-covered landscape, it has a very special charm.

A nearby and much younger attraction that is particularly suitable for families with children is Bavaria Filmstadt in the south of Munich. It can be reached by car in just over half an hour and offers plenty of action as well as original settings from well-known cinema films such as "The Neverending Story", "The Boat" or "Asterix and Obelix". The unique 4 D cinema is also particularly popular with visitors. Here you can enjoy 3 D films with brilliant sound and seats that move in sync with the film plot - great fun!

The Hellabrunn Zoo is also located in the south of Munich. It is the world's first geozoo and has been home to around 500 animal species from all over the world, arranged by continent, since 1928.

Bathing fun for the whole family and excellent wellness offers can be found in the Isarwelle family pool in Lenggries and in the extensive Kristall Therme in Kochel am See. Kochel is also home to the Franz Marc Museum. Here you can see numerous works by the important German Expressionist painter and equally important contemporaries such as Paul Klee, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Wassily Kandinski and many others.

We cannot list here all the locations worth seeing that can be discovered in the region around Wolfratshausen. However, we will be happy to provide you with detailed information on site and give you valuable tips if we know your individual wishes.
