Are you one of those people who buy your Christmas presents for family and friends in good time and therefore without stress? Or do you rush off in the advanced Advent to get everything? With the presents, the latter may work. But if you are planning a relaxed Christmas holiday, you should think about where and how you want to spend the contemplative days in good time - and then book accordingly early. Otherwise, every accommodation at your desired destination could be occupied.
This is especially true for a Christmas holiday in Bavaria. With its different regions, the federal state in the south of Germany has a variety of charms as well as leisure and recreational opportunities to offer at any time of year. Around Wolfratshausen in Upper Bavaria you will find many attractive destinations that will make the days around Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve an unforgettable experience. Our country house café, restaurant & hotel is an ideal starting point for excursions, hikes, numerous sporting activities and visits to outstanding cultural sites in the area.

Whether you're sworn to nature or want to take a detour or two into urban life - from Wolfratshausen you're quickly right in the middle of it all. It is only 10 km to Lake Starnberg in a westerly direction, around 50 km to the foothills of the Alps in a southerly direction and less than 40 km to the state capital Munich.
Active holidaymakers who also want to enjoy nature to the full in winter will get their money's worth in the area around Wolfratshausen and in Tölzer Land. Hikes through white snowy landscapes, walks along the wintry Lake Starnberg or the Loisach and Isar rivers, skiing and cross-country skiing on beautifully situated slopes, tobogganing, snowboarding and much more - a Christmas holiday in Bavaria at our country house café, restaurant & hotel has something to offer for every taste. But there is also plenty of space and time for more contemplative hours in Wolfratshausen, when the festively decorated streets, alleys and squares invite you to take a stroll.
Due to its long history, the whole of Bavaria is rich in historical sights, but also modern cultural treasures that are close by and are also excellent for a day trip in winter. Here we would like to present a small selection for different interests.
The monasteries of Bernried on Lake Starnberg, Benediktbeuern with its Fraunhofer Museum and Andechs with its famous brewery are all steeped in history. This also applies to Bad Tölz with its magnificent houses in the old town, whose façades are richly decorated with the so-called Lüftlmalerei. Families with children can also visit the marionette theatre, which is famous for its performances of classic fairy tales, and the planetarium. And what could be better than strolling through the famous Christmas market in the cold temperatures and enjoying the picturesque old town with a mulled wine?
A little further away from our country house café, restaurant & hotel - about 1.5 hours by car - is the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle. You should definitely not miss a visit to the fairytale building of the Bavarian King Ludwig II when you are in Bavaria for a Christmas holiday. Amidst the snow-covered landscape, it has a very special charm.
A nearby and much younger attraction that is particularly suitable for families with children is Bavaria Filmstadt in the south of Munich. It can be reached by car in just over half an hour and offers plenty of action as well as original settings from well-known cinema films such as "The Neverending Story", "The Boat" or "Asterix and Obelix". The unique 4 D cinema is also particularly popular with visitors. Here you can enjoy 3 D films with brilliant sound and seats that move in sync with the film plot - great fun!
The Hellabrunn Zoo is also located in the south of Munich. It is the world's first geozoo and has been home to around 500 animal species from all over the world, arranged by continent, since 1928.
Bathing fun for the whole family and excellent wellness offers can be found in the Isarwelle family pool in Lenggries and in the extensive Kristall Therme in Kochel am See. Kochel is also home to the Franz Marc Museum. Here you can see numerous works by the important German Expressionist painter and equally important contemporaries such as Paul Klee, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Wassily Kandinski and many others.
We cannot list here all the locations worth seeing that can be discovered in the region around Wolfratshausen. However, we will be happy to provide you with detailed information on site and give you valuable tips if we know your individual wishes.
When they are not on the road, we will pamper you in our festively decorated country house café, restaurant & hotel. This begins in the morning with a rich breakfast buffet and may end in the evening in our restaurant with a delicious menu that is tailored to the Christmas season, before you retire to a night's rest in one of the modern and cosily furnished rooms.
We cordially invite you to spend your Christmas holiday in Bavaria with us and look forward to your visit to the country house Café, Restaurant & Hotel in Wolfratshausen!
